The Membership to MMBA is a way to connect to
the local community as an organiation.
MMBA can bring Marathi movies
and cultural programs by artists from India as well as provide platform
for local talent.
It is also used to felicitate winners of
competitions like yearly Chaitradhun and local artists who perform.
Charitable events and donations are also funded through the Membership
MMBA membership is used for expenses for free events such as
yearly community Ganeshotsav and to provide downpayments for venues for
Membership dues also help to buy equipments, such as sound
equipments and pay for public storage. This has proved a big cost saver
over the years.
Membership dues also help pay for the website, e-mail
services and related expenses that allows us to reach our members and
keep them connected.
Membership dues are also used for being member
of Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal that brings events to all Marathi mandals
in the US.
Finally it provies mandated insurance for hosting events
that is needed.
The organization is run by volunteers and no
compensation is paid to anyone for being an office bearers,
committee members or volunteers.
In summary this is a non profit
organization similar to a school PTA or similar organizations that serve

your support throughout 2015.
We had a very busy year covering various programs consisting of various
activities including social cause, arts, entertainment, cultural events
and many other facets representing Maharashtrian life in Bay Area.
The year started off with Makar Sankrant (मकर संक्रांत) movie as well as
BMM Convention Sa Re Ga Ma (सा रे ग मा) auditions and our flagship
program Chaitradhun (चैत्रधून). We then collaborated with local
organizations and co-hosted two great Marathi Plays - Teen Paishacha
Tamasha (तीन पैशाचा तमाशा) as well as children's dramas ("धम्माल"
- तीन बाल नाटिका).
We later followed with our own Marathi Play Khara Sangayach Tar (खरं
सांगायचं तर). We also hosted a few superhit movies such as
Lokmanya(लोकमान्य) and Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (कट्यार काळजात घुसली). MMBA
collaborated to present a grand program Nritya Shrinkhalaa(नृत्य शृंखला)
representing folk dance styles of India.
MMBA had the opportunity to play an important role along with many other
Indian organizations in hosting Indian Prime Minister Shri. Narendra
Modi. We volunteered in various ways to make this event successful. Lot
of our membership had the opportunity to attend and listen to Mr. Modi's
speech at SAP center. MMBA Yuva Dhol-Tasha (ढोल-ताशा) team did an
excellent job at welcoming him by performing non-stop for an hour
outside SAP Center. They got lot of coverage in local as well as
international TV channels.
We also participated in First International Yoga day event on Jun 21st.
MMBA participated in India Independence Day Parade by representing
Maharashtra State. We had a float depicting ShivRajyaBhishek
(शिवराज्याभिषेक) and Dhol-Tasha-Lezim Pathak (ढोल-ताशा-लेझीम पथक). Our
float won second prize.
MMBA participated in BMM Convention in LA which started with MMBA Yuva
Dhol Tasha Pathak procession. Our Dhol-Tasha team eventually performed
in various places in Bay Area including at Giants game in AT&T park and
other Bay Area events.Team gave a 50 person strong Ganapati Visarjan
Miravanuk (गणपती विसर्जन मिरवणूक) performance during our Ganeshotsav on
We have Marathi Shala (मराठी शाळा - ब्रु.म.म. संलग्न ) as our ongoing
activity throughout the year.
Our Diwali program was unique in the sense that we had two very distinct
presentations. We were honored to host Shri Adhik Kadam to present his
inspiring social work story of working with orphaned girls in Jammu and
Kashmir who lost their parents due to terrorist activities.We also
helped spread his message to all other Mahrashtra Mandals in North
MMBA team met with Dr. Prakash and Dr. Manda Amte and made a donation to
Hemalkasa (हेमलकसा) project to help support their urgent need for
MMBA supported year end program for retirement homes in Bay Area
received a great response with more than 200 attendees.
We participated in many events by identifying collaborative
opportunities with various organizations in Bay Area and thus
representing culture of Maharashtra.
