Ganesh Utsav has long been one of the most cherished traditions within the Maharashtrian community. At MMBA, it becomes more than a festival. It becomes a collective experience where families, volunteers, children, artists, and seniors come together to celebrate faith, culture, and togetherness. From aartis and performances to decorations, food, music, and community participation, the celebration reflects both the spirit of Maharashtra and the warmth of the Bay Area community that keeps these traditions alive. Vari represents one of Maharashtra’s most meaningful spiritual and cultural traditions — a journey built on devotion, equality, discipline, music, and collective participation. At MMBA, Vari becomes a way for the community to reconnect with the values and spirit associated with this centuries-old tradition while adapting it meaningfully within the Bay Area. Through abhangs, dindi-style participation, storytelling, devotional music, and shared experiences, the community comes together to celebrate not only faith, but also the deeper ideas of unity, simplicity, and togetherness that Vari represents. For younger generations, it offers a powerful introduction to a living tradition that continues to inspire millions across Maharashtra and beyond
